PIKEVILLE — Pikeville Farmers Market is gearing up for an exciting summer filled with opportunities for local farmers and market-goers.

The annual market has attracted thousands seeking to get their hands on home-grown vegetables, food and crafts over the years and 2017 is expected to be just as exciting.

“On May 20 from 10 a.m., until noon we will have peas and salad days as a flash sale pre-season event,” Event Co-Founder and Pikeville Farmers’ Market President Joyce Pinson said.

She said a soft opening will take place on May 27 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., and will begin the regular schedule on Tuesday, June 3 from 4:30 –7 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Pinson said, community craft day will take place and feature crafters, farmers and food vendors from around the community on June 3.

Pikeville Farmers’ Market has been the “go-to place” for many local health conscious and hungry vegetable lovers.

“There is nothing better than home-grown food,” she added.

Pinson said visitors can expect to see something new this summer.

“Our official season will kick off on Saturday, June 10 and we’re going all out,” she said. “We are dressing up like going to the horse races, and the theme will be ‘And They’re Off!’”
