PIKEVILLE — Johnson Central’s Logan Cline belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and starting pitcher Casandra Hall scattered five hits as the Lady Golden Eagles rolled to a 7-1 victory over Pikeville in the 15th Region Tournament at Myers Field on May 28.

Chloe Blair had three hits, including a double and scored two runs while driving in one as Johnson Central improved to 28-10. Jayla Spurlock added an RBI single and scored one run.

Pikeville’s Aileah Bartley led the Lady Panthers (26-10) with two hits and one run scored.

Morgan Curry, Mollie Blackburn, Amber Sexton and Sara Biery had one hit apiece. Biery had an RBI groundout in the seventh.

Cassie Huff suffered the loss. She allowed seven runs on seven hits.



At Pikeville

PIKEVILLE — Belfry used timely hitting and aggressive base running to pull away and beat Prestonsburg 12-2 in the 15th Region Tournament at Myers Field on May 28.

The Lady Pirates, now 23-12, ended a seven-game regional tournament losing streak with the mercy-rule win.

Becca Maynard pounded out two hits, scored two runs and drove in two. Brooke Branham added a hit and knocked in three runs. She scored one time.

Kacey Tackett added one hit, scored one time and knocked in one run while Sydni Bogar had one hit, scored two runs and knocked in one run.

Brooke Williamson was the winning pitcher.

Tori Hammonds, Allyson DeRossett, Allison Conley and Jessica Lafferty had one hit each for the Lady Blackcats (11-18). Kate Rose and DeRossett both scored.

PIKEVILLE — Magoffin County sent 16 batters to the plate in the top of the fourth inning and the Lady Hornets pushed across 11 runs en route to a 15-0 victory over Betsy Layne in the 15th Region Tournament at Myers Field on May 28.

Julieann Helton had two hits, including a double and drove in four runs as the Lady Hornets improved to 30-8. Jazzy Howard doubled, singled and drove in two runs while Chelsey Cole added two sacrifice bunts and knocked in two runs.

Winning pitcher Hannah Skaggs limited the Lady Bobcats (7-22) to just two hits. Timera Thacker and T.J. Tackett each singled.

Betsy Layne’s Brandy Morrow took the loss.

PIKEVILLE — East Ridge’s Kelsie Fuller singled and came around to score on a catcher’s throwing error to give the Lady Warriors a 13-3 mercy-rule win over Pike County Central in the opening round game of the 15th Region Tournament at Myers Field on May 28.

The Lady Warriors, now 22-9, scored five times in the home first inning and never looked back in building a 10-0 lead after four innings.

Tabitha Potter had three hits, including a double, drove in four runs and scored twice to lead a 13-hit attack. Fuller added three hits. She scored one run and knocked in another. Caitlyn Wright and wining pitcher Christian Yates collected two hits each.

Pike Central, which finished its season 9-23, managed RBI singles by Reagan Clark and Haley Nichols. Keylee Coleman had the only other hit for the Lady Hawks.

Central’s Kinsey Patton suffered the loss.
