PIKEVILLE — East Ridge scored three times in the home fifth and the Warriors went on to beat Shelby Valley 7-0 in the opening round of the 59th District Tournament at Davis Park on May 21.
Tyler Bentley had a pair of doubles, scored one run and knocked in another as the Warriors (19-17) secured a berth in the 15th Region Tournament. Winning pitcher Colby Little added two hits and drove in one run. Tyler Ray had two hits and knocked in one run.
Austin Robinson added an RBI triple and Christian Hagy and Johnny Miller singled and scored.
Little struck out six batters, walked two and scattered five hits.
Austin Elswick, Nick Wallace, Jonah Mullins, MacKenzie Fields and Brent Adkins each singled for the Wildcats who finished 12-15.
Devin Newsome suffered the loss.

PIKEVILLE – East Ridge’s Kelsey Fuller belted an RBI double and later scored to put the Lady Warriors ahead for good in a 4-2 victory over Shelby Valley in the opening round of the 59th District Tournament at Myers Field on May 22.
Teena Rowe added an RBI single and Cassie Webb had one hit and scored twice.
Christian Yates allowed just one hit, an RBI single by losing pitcher Kim Taylor.
