JENKINS — Jenkins scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead away from Letcher Central and the Lady Cavaliers held on late to beat their county rival 10-8 on April 23.

The Lady Cavaliers, now 20-4, took a 10-4 lead into the seventh inning before Central rallied to score four times and close the deficit to two.

Randee Phillips went 4-for-4 and Melissa Bartley added two hits. Winning pitcher Kayla Stambaugh had one hit and drove in three runs.

Central’s Cheyanne Stidham had two hits along with Bradlyn Polis.

Makayley Johnson suffered the loss as the Lady Cougars fell to 4-13.

It marked the second win in four days for Jenkins over Central. The Lady Cavaliers rolled to a 12-1 win at Ermine on April 19.

Stambaugh had three hits in earning the road win. Melissa Bartley, Mercedes Boggs, Caitlynn Estevez, Ashley Niece and Brittany Mullins added two hits each.

Central’s Seanna Coots led the Lady Cougars with two hits.

GOODY — Pikeville’s offensive erupted for five runs in the third inning and seven more in the sixth en route to a 15-5 victory over Belfry on April 23.

Heather Maynard, Aileah Bartley and Amber Sexton had three hits and drove in three runs apiece as the Lady Panthers improved to 18-6. Sara Biery added three hits and two RBIs while Morgan Curry had three hits and scored three runs.

Winning pitcher Emily Hall had one hit and drove in one run while running her record to 11-2. She allowed six hits while striking out four. Lindsey Isner added one hit and scored twice while Stacie Gooch had an RBI.

Sexton scored three times while Maynard and Bartley scored twice each.

STONECREST —Prestonsburg scored the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Lady Blackcats held off Betsy Layne to score a hard-fought 5-4 win on April 23.

Allyson DeRossett doubled and scored two runs while Taylor Hackworth added two hits and scored one run. Jordan Bach and Michaela Parsley reached and scored.

Haley Howell was the winning pitcher as Prestonsburg improved to 4-11.

Betsy Layne’s Chloe Johnson tripled and scored while T.J. Tackett had two hits and scored one run. Kennedy Bias singled and scored.

Brandy Morrow suffered the loss as Betsy Layne dropped to 1-11.
