HAMLIN, W.Va. — Mingo Central’s Jacob Staton delivered a clutch RBI single in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Miners to a thrilling 5-4 win over Class AAA Lincoln County on April 2.
The Miners, now 6-3, rallied from a two-run deficit in the top of the sixth inning to knock the score on Nick Lee’s two-run homer.
Alex Lee, Joe May and Josh May were offensive standouts as well with hits.
Chris Atkins, who came on in relief of Staton in the seventh inning, pitched out of a ninth-inning jam to earn the win.
