ROBINSON CREEK — Pikeville pitcher Reece Ward pitched a perfect game as the Panthers rolled to a 14-0 victory over South Floyd at Shelby Valley’s Dale Trivette Field in the opening round of the All “A” Classic on April 2.
Pikeville pounded out 11 hits in the win to improve to 6-1. It was the fourth straight win for the Panthers.
MAN, W.Va. — Bel
fry’s Tyler Williams belted his first home run of the season with two outs in the top of the first inning and the Pirates went on to beat Man 5-2 at Juan Nordelo Field on April 2.
The Hillbillies, 5-5, battled back and took a 2-1 lead as Jake Riggins singled and scored on a grounder in the second inning and Thomas Blair was hit by a pitch and scored on an error in the fourth.
Belfry (7-4) took the lead for good by scoring three times in the fifth inning off Man starter and loser Nick Carter. Reed Williamson delivered the big blow in the frame with a two-run single scoring Camerson Johnson and Zack Francisco. All three runs came with two outs.
The Pirates added a single run in the seventh as Johnson scored on a sacrifice fly by Zac Fields.
Belfry’s Keegan Fields was the winning pitcher. He allowed three hits while striking out six. He walked five and hit one batter.

LONDON — Letcher Central built a big lead early on and the Cougars held on to beat South Laurel 7-5 on April 2.
Zane Blair had a double and knocked in three runs while Corey Dollarhide was a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases. Mason Salyers added two hits and one run scored while Stephen Fox singled and drove in two runs.
Letcher Central, now 8-3, scored four times in the second and three times in the third to make a winner out of Nick King. Caleb Baker came on to get the save.

INEZ — Sheldon Clark rallied to score five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat East Ridge 8-6 at Frank Horn Field on March 31.
Winning pitcher Brent Risner, Tanner Lafferty and Derrick Mollette had two hits each for the Cardinals who won for the third straight time out.
East Ridge’s Jacob Skeens had three hits for the Warriors, now 5-5. Tyler Bentley and Adam Ward had two hits each.
