CORDIA – Jenkins exploded offensively early against Cordia and the Lady Cavaliers rolled to an 18-0 win over the Lady Lions in the opening game of a doubleheader on April 2.

Randiee Phillips was a perfect 3-for-3 and knocked home six runs while Caitlynn Estevez was the winning pitcher.

CORDIA — Jenkins completed a sweep of Cordia with a 15-0 victory in the nightcap of a doubleheader on April 2.

Randee Phillips and Brittany Mullins had two hits each for the Lady Cavaliers, now 12-2.

Caitlynn Estevez pitched her second straight shutout against the Lady Lions.

LICK CREEK — Jenkins scored single runs in the fourth and fifth inning as the Lady Cavaliers went on to beat East Ridge 2-0 in a battle of softball powers on March 30.

Jenkins pitcher Kayla Stambaugh outdueled East Ridge’s Christian Yates.

Stambaugh had two hits and stoled four bases while Caitlyn Wright had two hits for the Lady Warriors, now 2-3.

The Lady Cavaliers improved to 10-2.

BAXTER — Letcher Central’s Jordan Short tossed a three-hit shutout as the Cougars defeated Harriman (Tenn.) 6-0 in the Black Bear Invitational at Harlan County High School on March 31.

He struck out 12 batters.



Short was a force at the plate with three hits. He drove in two runs. Dakota Yonts had two hits and walked one time while scoring one run.

Mason Salyers added a double and Stephen Fox had one hits and scored two runs while driving in one.



At Baxter

BAXTER — Letcher Central used timely hitting and solid starting pitching to knock off Corbin 3-1 in the Black Bear Invitational at Harlan County High School on March 30.

Zane blair had two hits, including a double, and scored one run as the Cougars improved to 6-3.

Ethan Mason added two hits and Jordasn Short tripled.

Max Hall pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on sevent hits. He finished with eight strikeouts.

GOODY —Belfry’s Tyler Williams struck out 16 batters and scattered three hits as the Pirates beat Chapmanville 4-1 on April 3.

Williams had two hits, including a double. Zac Fields added a two-run, pinch-hit single in the Pirates’ three-run sixth inning.

Chapmanville’s lone run scored on Joe Woody’s RBI single in the sixth inning.

Belfry is now 8-4.
