Pikeville Medical Center (PMC) was recently named one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky 2012.

This is the fifth year PMC has been honored with this esteemed award.

The awards program was created in 2005 and is a project of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Kentucky SHRM Council and Best Companies Group.

“Our employees go above and beyond the call of duty every day,” said Juanita Deskins, Chief Operating Officer of PMC. “This award further validates their commitment to our patients to provide quality regional health care in a Christian environment.”

This statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Kentucky.

The Best Places to Work in Kentucky 2012 list is made up of 65 companies.

Assistant Vice President of Human Resources at PMC and Chairman of the hospital’s Employer of Choice Team, Melissa Coleman said, “Our employees are the reason PMC continues to be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky. It is through their dedication and teamwork that we continue to excel and are proudly able to accept this prestigious distinction.”

To be considered for participation, companies must fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

• have at least 25 employees working in Kentucky;

• be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;

• be a publicly or privately held business;

• have a facility in the state of Kentucky; and

• be in business a minimum of 1 year.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Kentucky.

The first part consisted of an evaluation of workplace policies, practices and demographics.

This evaluation was worth approximately 25 percent of the total score.

The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience.

This evaluation was worth approximately 75 percent of the total score.

The combined scores determined the top companies and their final rankings.  Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Kentucky and also analyzed the data to determine the final rankings.

PMC will be recognized and honored at the Best Places to Work in Kentucky 8th Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, April 19 at the Galt House in downtown Louisville.

The final rankings will be announced at the event.
