Matthew Wayne Justice
2007


Matthew Wayne Justice of Millard, Ky., entered into Life on September 25, 2007 and entered into Heaven on September 25, 2007.

Matthew is the Son of Katie and Cleve Justice of Millard. Matthew is loved and missed by his Mamaw and Papaw, Sherry and Dale Spurlock of Millard, and Grandparents, Carl and Josephine Gross of Chloe Creek Road, and Earl and Becky Justice of Shelbiana, Ky.

Matthew also touched the lives of his Great-Grandparents, Vida Justice, Helen Gross and Racine and Patia Ratliff all of Pikeville, Ky. This wonderful little boy has also left behind cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends who have come to love Matthew with all of their hearts.

Graveside services were held for Matthew at 1 p.m. on September 26, 2007 at Annie E. Young Cemetery on Chloe Road. Larry and Gypsie Thacker held a beautiful services from Matthew with the 23rd Psalm being read, Bible verse Matthew 18:10 was read and prayers were offered up.

Matthew’s Cousin gave Testimony of the Joy and Hope that Matthew has brought to all of us, and a balloon release was held to close the service. (We will see you there Matthew)

Willie Thacker
1935-2007


Willie “Bill” Thacker, 71, of Steele, Ky., died Tuesday, September 18, 2007.

He was born November 13, 1935 a son of the late Dan W. and Bernie Thacker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hattie Worrix and Lena Chaney.

He is survived by two brothers, Elster Thacker, of Raccoon Road, Ky., Johnny Blake Thacker, of Red Creek, Ky; two sisters, Josie Faye Blair of Steele, Ky. and Myrtie Mae Fuller of Steele. Ky. Funeral services were held Friday, September 21, 2007 in the Thacker Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Pikeville.

Arrangements were under the direction of Thacker Funeral Home.

Philmore Akers
1943-2007


Philmore Akers, 64, of Rutledge, Tenn., formerly of Robinson Creek, Ky., died Tuesday, September 25, 2007.

He was born May 3, 1943, a son of the late Nelson and Victoria Bartley Akers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Little. He is survived by his wife, Emma Lee Younce Akers; one son, Phil Darren Akers of Virgie, Ky; one daughter, Janet Davis of Winchester, Ky.; three stepdaughters, Vanda Mullins of Robinson Creek, Ky., Karen Rose of Lexington, Ky., Leigh Hensley of Rutledge, Ky; one brother, Minus Akers of LaFayette, Tenn.; two sisters, Clearcie Elswick and Vesta Elswick, both of Virgie, Ky; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 28, 2007 in the Shelby Valley Church of Christ.

Burial followed in the Ray Cemetery, Little Robinson Creek, Ky.

Arrangements were under direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home of Pikeville, Ky.

Edgel Adkins
1921-2007

Edgel Adkins, 86, of Elkhorn City, Ky., died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007.

He was born Sept. 30, 1921, a son of the late Perry and Nora Ratliff Adkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Coleman Adkins; three brothers, Raymond, Edard and Freeman; and one sister, Nellie Gibson.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis Ray Adkins of Poor Bottom, Elkhorn City, Ky. and Jimmy Dale Adkins of Norton, Va.; one daughter, Brenda Adkins Hobbs of Poor Bottom, Elkhorn City, Ky.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 in the Lucas and Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in the Adkins Family Cemetery, Poor Bottom.

Clyde Branham
1924-2007

Clyde Branham, 82, of Pikeville, Ky., died Wednesday, September 26, 2007.

He was born November 27, 1924, a son of the late Joe and Sarah Roberts Branham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Augusta Tackett Branham; two brothers, Curtis Branham and Glen Branham; three sisters, Belva Newcomb, Mollie Oney and Annette Yates.

He is survived by five sons, Kenneth Branham of Marrowbone, Ky., Weldon Branham and Donnie Branham, both of Lizzie Fork, Ky., Danny Branham of Millard, Ky., and Ronald Branham of Red Creek, Ky; three daughters, Diann Osborne of Lizzie Fork, Linda Keslik of Branson, Mo., and Barbara Tasley of Collins, Ky; two brothers, Creed Branham of Ohio and Andrew Branham of Lizzie Fork, Ky.; three sisters, Sadie Newcomb of Millard, Edna Mueninghoff of Louisville, Ky., and Vernie Branham of Lizzie Fork, Ky.; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 30, 2007 in the Lucas and Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in the Clyde Branham Cemetery, Lizzie Fork Road.

Selena Branham
1917-2007

Selena May Branham, 90, of Greasy Creek, Shelbiana, Ky., died September 8, 2007.

She was born April 11, 1917, a daughter of the late John and Dena Hay May.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Wade Branham, Harry J. Branham; two daughters Barbara Branham and Linda Gail Akers; and one brother, Daniel May.

She is survived by one son, Ordie Ray Branham of Greasy Creek, Ky.; three daughters, Janice Rowe, Bradshaw, W.Va., Delena Prater of Greasy Creek, Ky., Dorothy Adkins of Shepperdsville, Ky.; one sister, Bobbie Thacker of Regina, Ky.; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and one special granddaughter–in-law.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Lucas and Son Funeral Home.

Burial followed in Branham Cemetery, Greasy Creek.

Arrangements were under the direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home.

Judy Branham
1943-2007


Judy Branham, 64, of Right Fork Greasy Creek, died Saturday, September 1, 2007.

She was born in May 22, 1943, a daughter of the late Chris and Nora Coleman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, and one sister.

She is survived by her husband, Ordie Ray Branham; two sons, Clinton Branham and Chris Branham, both of Greasy Creek, Ky.; one brother, Randy Coleman of Greasy Creek, Ky.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in the Lucas and Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in the Branham Family Cemetery.

Arrangements were under direction of Lucas and Son Funeral Home of Pikeville, Ky.

Harold Coleman
1934-2007

Harold Dean Coleman, 73, of Lookout, Ky., died Sunday, September 23, 2007.

He was born May 19, 1934, a son of the late Anthony and Fannie Francis Coleman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Richard D. Coleman; one daughter, Deborah Kaye Coleman; and one sister, Glema Young.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Green Coleman; one daughter, Dena Coleman Dillon of Wellington; one sister, Delois Mutter of Elkhorn City, Ky.; and one grandson.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 in the Lucas and Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road.

Lowell Keathley
1932-2007


Lowell Thomas Keathley, 74, of Pikeville, Ky., died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007.

He was born December 14, 1932, a son of the late William Kenos and Eva Lucille Caudill Keathley.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Isbell Keathley; three sons, John David Keathley of Louisville, Ky., Lowell Thomas Keathley II and Robert Chester Keathley, both of Nicholasville, Ky; two daughters, Tiffany Dawn Caudill of Pikeville, Ky. and Beverly Lynn Quinn of Nicholasville, Ky.; one brother, William Ormond Keathley of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Helen Jo Barone of Franklin, N.C. and Patty Elizabeth Vanover of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and a loving host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 22, 2007 in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment followed in the U.T. Hinton Mausoleum, Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville, Ky.

Delmer Ray
1946-2007


Delmer Ray, 60, of Morehead, Ky., died Thursday, September 27, 2007.

He was born November 30, 1946, a son of the late Elmer and Yvania Thomas Ray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cherri L. Ray and Anita Ratliff.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Reed Ray; two sons, Virgil Ray of Pikeville, Ky., and Christopher Ray of Irish Hills, Mich.; five daughters, Cindy White of Lavania, Ga., Sheila Harris of N.C., Angela Cole of Tipton, Mich., Tina Hall of Hillsboro, N.C. and Tammie Reed of Morehead, Ky.; three brothers, Jimmy R. Ray and Jeffrey W. Ray, both of Pikeville, Ky., and Edgar D. Ray of Morehead, Ky.; two sisters, Katherine R. Branham and Shirley Hall, both of Pikeville, Ky.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 30, 2007 in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in the Jack Thomas Cemetery, Island Creek.

Sandra Rich
1947-2007


Sandra Rich, 60, of Pikeville, Ky., died Sunday, September 23, 2007.

She was born August 17, 1947, a daughter of the late David and Lillie Sanders Conley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis Conley, Gary Conley and John Conley.

She is survived by her husband, James H. Rich; one son, James Michael Rich of Pikeville, Ky., one brother, Ronnie Conley of Harrisburg, Pa.; and three sisters, Louise Cantrell and Bertice Christine Holland, both of Elkhorn City, and Dovie Stephens of Muskeegan, Mich.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 26, 2007 in the J.W. Call and Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville, Ky.

Ronald Henson
1937-2007


Ronald Gene Henson, 70, of Hi Hat, Ky., died Monday, September 17, 2007.

He was born July 13, 1937, a son of the late Oscar Henson and Lucressy Slone Henson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Bobby Ray Henson and James Henson. H e is survived by one son, Stephen Henson, Waterloo, In; one daughter, Rhoda Fortress, Kendallville, Ind.; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 20, 2007, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky.

Burial followed in the Burton Cemetery, Hi Hat, Ky.

Jeanette Skeans
1960-2007

Jeanette Skeans, 47, of Beaver, Ky., died Wednesday, September 26, 2007.

She was born May 31, 1960, the daughter of the late Cecil Daniels and Pauline Tackett Daniels.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Skeans, Jr., one son, Joseph Clayton Skeans, Lexington, Ky.; one daughter, Stephanie Dawn Skeans, Beaver, Ky.; one brother, Johnny Daniels, McDowell, Ky.; one sister, Beckie Little, Lexington, Ky., and a loving host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.

Burial followed in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, McDowell, Ky.

Rachel Ison
1931-2007


Rachel Stephens Ison, 76, of Martin, Ky., died Thursday, September 27, 2007.

She was born May 31, 1931, the daughter of the late Hubert Stephens and Bess Ousley Stephens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert "Red" Ison, one brother, George P. Stephens and one grandchild, Stephen Daniel Ison.

She is survived by three sons, John C, Ison, Delbert Ison, Jr., and Gregory Ison, all of Martin, Ky; one daughter, Pamela Ison Lane, Lexington, Ky; three brothers, William Hager Stephens, Spring Hill, Fla., Hubert Stephens, Jr., River Juction, Mich., Rev, Jim Stephens, Prestonsburg, Ky; three sisters, Bertha Clifton and Joanne Story both of Prestonsburg, Ky., Catherine Crisp, Martin, Ky; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a loving host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 30, 2007 at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky.

Burial followed in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky.

Stuart Stephens
1936-2007


Stuart Edward Stephens, 70, of Prestonsburg, Ky., died Friday, September 28, 2007. He was born November 3, 1936, a son of the late Frank Ray and Julia Baldridge Stephens.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Wells Stephens; one son, Ray Eugene Stephens of Georgetown, Ky., two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 30, 2007 in the Allen First Baptist Church.

Burial followed in the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, Ky.

Arrangements were under the direction of Hall Funeral Home of Martin, Ky.
