Pikeville businessman passes away at 65

PIKEVILLE — Pike County businessman Michael "Mike" Thompson, 65, of Pikeville, passed away at Jewish Hospital in Louisville on Aug. 29.


He was the retired owner of Creative Lighting and Bath in Pikeville.


Survivors include his wife, Patty, who is event administrator at Pikeville Medical Center.


Additional survivors include his son, Tyler (Beth) Thompson; grandchildren, Hallie Elizabeth Thompson and Easton Maverick Thompson; four brothers, Harry (Neva) Thompson, Harold (Sharon) Thompson, Joe (Zuma) Thompson and Tommy (Betsy) Thompson.


He was born Aug. 17, 1952, son of the late Roy and Ample Griffith Thompson.


He was also preceded in death by one sister, Bobbi Williams Slone; and three brothers, Jackie Dean, Douglas and Roy Jr. Thompson.


Visitation will be from 3 until 9 p.m. today at Lucas and Son Funeral Home in Pikeville. Church service will be at 7 p.m. Funeral, 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Mount Valley Memorial Park at Big Rock, Va.
