High School Baseball roundup: Valley, Pikeville, P’burg advance

ROBINSON CREEK — Shelby Valley erupted for five runs in the bottom of the first inning and held off Betsy Layne late for a 10-6 win in the All “A” Classic matchup played at Dale Trivette Field on April 5.

 

Jacob Beverly tripled, singled, scored three times and knocked in a pair of runs as the Wildcats improved to 10-1. Ty Riddle had two hits, scored once and batted in four.

 

Grant Joyce was the winning pitcher while Sam Boyd took the loss as the Bobcats dropped to 1-8.

 

Jamison Stanley singled, scored and drove in two runs and Steven Boyd doubled, scored and knocked in one run.

PIKEVILLE — Pikeville extended its winning streak to 13 straight games as the Panthers rolled to an 18-6 win over Allen Central in the All “A” Classic played at Davis Park on April 5.

 

Winning pitcher Peyton Hamilton had two hits, scored and drove in four runs while Andrew McNamee had two hits, including a triple, scored three times and knocked in three runs. Nate Brown tripled, singled, scored twice and batted in two runs while Jackson Hensley tripled, scored twice and collected a pair of RBI.

 

Losing pitcher Steven Howard doubled, scored and knocked in two runs for the Rebels, now 2-5. Matt Combs singled, scored and drove in two runs.

 

Pikeville (13-0) advanced to face Prestonsburg.
