PIKEVILLE — Pikeville pounded out 11 hits and built a big lead early on while rolling to an 11-3 win over Harlan County in a game played at Davis Park on May 17.

 

Michael McDonald tripled, scored and drove home two runs as Pikeville moved to 22-6. Nate Brown singled twice and batted in two while Clay Slone collected three hits and scored four times.

 

Grayson Harris was the winning pitcher.

GOODY — Belfry’s Colton Cross continued his torrid hitting in leading the Pirates to a 15-5 win over Sheldon Clark in a game played at Massey Energy Field on May 15.

 

Cross, who has went 9-for-10 with six doubles and six RBI, had a two-run double and RBI single and another double as the Pirates improved to 8-19.

 

Devin Varney had three hits, including a double and drove in two runs to back the pitching of winner Avery Browning. Cameron Catron had a two-run single and added a bunt single and scored.

PAINTSVILLE — Johnson Central used timely hitting and solid pitching to turn back Pikeville, 4-1, in a game played on May 15.

 

Winning pitcher Trevor May had two hits, including a triple, and drove in one run as the Golden Eagles moved to 24-7. Riley Preece singled and knocked in one run while Geordon Blanton added an RBI.

 

Tyler Elkins singled and drove home the lone Pikeville run as the Panthers fell to 21-6. Andrew McNamee reached and scored.

 

Christian Tackett suffered the loss.

Zion Echols had two hits and scored two runs while Wes Hager singled twice and scored as the Blackcats moved to 21-7. Winning pitcher Reece Ison added a pair of doubles.

 

Evan Coleman suffered the loss as the Hawks fell to 18-14.
