God cares for us

While watering a fern on my front stoop, I noticed a small bird's nest hidden between the fronds of the plant. Leaning closer, I saw three small eggs resting there. I was careful not to disturb its contents, knowing that Momma bird would soon return.

Each evening I checked to see if Momma bird was taking care of her eggs. She was there each time. I watched the progress for weeks, checking to see if the eggs had hatched. One day I noticed three small birds, mouths opened waiting for food from their mother. I continued my evening ritual and then one day the little ones were gone. They had flown from the nest and I knew would not return. I kept thinking how God is like that Momma bird caring for her little ones. "Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matt 6:26.
