Blackburn named Assistant CEO for PMC

PIKEVILLE — Pikeville Medical Center Chief Operating Officer and President of the Board Walter E. May has announced that Donovan Blackburn has been hired as Assistant CEO for the hospital.

Blackburn will begin his duties at a date to be announced soon, but no later than 60 days from this past Monday.

May says Blackburn’s experience and success as Pikeville City Manager make him uniquely qualified for the position.

“Pikeville Medical Center’s mission to provide world-class, quality health care in a Christian environment has led us to unprecedented growth,” May said. “Donovan has had great success shepherding the growth of our city. We’ll be looking forward to him eventually having an equally impressive impact on Pikeville Medical Center.”

Blackburn says the decision to accept the position was one of the most important he has ever made.

“I’ve been fortunate to serve the City of Pikeville for more than 13 years, and I am proud of the growth our city has enjoyed,” Blackburn said.

“This is a new challenge for me, but in many ways, I know I will still be affecting our region’s economy. Pikeville Medical Center is a primary contributor to our quality of life. It contributes to our tax base and, of course, ensures that our people receive the best medical care available. I’m eager to work with Mr. May and will do everything within my ability to serve both the hospital and the community,” he added.

Blackburn tendered his resignation to the Pikeville City Commission on Monday. His last day with the city will be announced soon.
