An attitude of Selflessness
“Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves”. (Philippians 2:3)
Let me share with you a regular event from child rearing years. I think you will all be able to relate. When our children were small they would argue over who would get the front seat of the car. As parents we would come up with clever ways to deal with this selfish demand. Sometimes we would encourage them to take turns. Other times we’d play a game or use the proven method of rock, paper, scissors.
The Apostle Paul encourages us to live selfless lives and to do nothing through selfish ambitions. We come into this world kicking and screaming and demanding attention. That is expected when you are a baby, but not when you are an adult. Let us all develop an attitude of selflessness. It is a sign of maturity.
